The killing work of the law is necessary for salvation

This is an eye-popper,

“no one has ever fallen in love with Jesus Christ by being scolded”

Rev. Scott Sauls — PCA Minister and Keller acolyte
From a devotional as given to a closed group

Really?

Romans 7:9 I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died; 10 and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me;

Reformed Christianity has ALWAYS taught that one outside of Christ NEVER comes to Christ apart from the Law doing its killing work. Indeed, this is so true, I would venture to say that no one has ever closed with Jesus Christ without being scolded by the Law of God.

Remember Pilgrim’s meeting with Moses and the Law in Pilgrim’s Progress

This is Pastoral Malpractice. Spiritual Poison.

The real tragedy today is that so many people are (as I express it) being inoculated against the true Gospel by being sold a false gospel instead, namely this law-free one spoken of here. The Puritans were quite right to speak of the “law-works” in truly plowing up the heart and readying it for the genuine acceptance of the true Gospel in repentance and saving faith.
